Ed and Eloise's Wedding, July 14

Ed and Eloise’s Wedding Photography

Photographing Ed and Eloise’s wedding was a mixture of hard work and fun. It was hot, like really really hot! I’ve photographed weddings that have been hot and a bit sweaty before but this was different. With that said, the day was full of a great bunch of people who were all in it together. The chilled out bride and groom made for a much cooler atmosphere.

Early in the afternoon I arrived at the ‘bridal hub’ but was amazed at how relaxed everyone was! No make up or hair dilemmas just a bit of bubbly and lots of smiles. Eloise’s dress was lovely and the strong red theme was nice to photograph, distracting from the slightly overcast weather.

Whilst I let the girls apply the finishing touches, I disappeared to meet the groom at Cockington Court. Ed is a cool dude and was desperately trying to look at ease. All I can say is that I’m glad I was only in a shirt and trousers as a three piece in that humidity must have been hard work! The church at Cockington is a lovely quaint setting but with very little natural light. Rather than upset people by using a flash, I just whacked the ISO up and used a tripod as much as I could, I feel as though this makes a big difference to the way the couple enjoy the ceremony.

Then the guests moved on to the reception which gave the couple and myself a bit of time to take a breather and get some posed shots of the two of them. As with most grooms (myself included) Ed was a bit concerned about looking into the camera, so I directed them to just look at each other. This is a surefire go to solution to help couples relax, give them something to do!

As the evening progressed the temperature got a little bit more comfortable. The couple looked lovely together, even after some controversial best man speech moments!
